Meditation aspires to
liberate the mind from its perpetual cycle of distractions,
gently steering it towards
a state of serene clarity.

Than, why cage it with time?

Thesis: I believe that we are leaving half of the meditation experience off the table. I will make a case for count up timers to be used along countdown timer. Together we'll explore timebound and timeless meditations. As Buddha suggested, "Don't believe in anything I say, go ahead and experience it for yourself"

Chapter I : Time in a Cage
In contemporary practice, countdown timers are the norm
to help meditators manage their sessions, ensuring they devote adequate time to the activity.
In our quest to tame the elusive practice of meditation, we've inadvertently caged the very essence of mindfulness within the rigid bars of a countdown timer. Like zookeepers attempting to contain the vast wilderness of consciousness, we've constructed digital enclosures, neatly parceling out moments of supposed transcendence in 5, 10, or 20-minute increments. This well-intentioned imprisonment of our practice reflects a deeper societal obsession with quantification and control. As the seconds tick away, our minds become less the observers of our thoughts and more the wardens of time, vigilantly awaiting the moment of release.
The countdown timer, once a tool for discipline, now stands as a barrier between us and the boundless nature of true mindfulness. In our effort to measure growth, we've scaled down infinity to fit within the confines of our screens, forgetting that the very heart of meditation lies in breaking free from such limitations.
We are leaving half of the meditation practice on the table.
